son-in-law and daughter bought grandma a TV as a gift

In the sixties, the son-in-law and daughter bought grandma a TV as a gift. Grandma was very happy, but the very next day, while dusting, she turned the brightness knob all the way to the left. Then she turned on the TV and there was no picture. She got scared that something was broken, but she didn’t say anything to her daughter and son-in-law to avoid upsetting them: they spent a lot of money on the TV, and she broke it the next day, which would mean more expenses for repairs. So she watched TV without a picture, just listening to it. It wasn’t until about six months later when her son-in-law and daughter visited, that they noticed the turned-down brightness knob and figured out what happened. Everyone had a good laugh, and the son-in-law and daughter explained to grandma how to use the knobs, and she got the picture back on the TV. But during that time of just listening to TV, she had imagined what the different presenters looked like, what various characters from the shows looked like, and later she couldn’t adjust to the real ones. When watching some movies and programs, she had to turn off the picture because it bothered her.
