gyroscopic effect

The gyroscopic effect is that when you take the rear wheel off a bicycle, hold it by the axle so that the axle is horizontal, and spin the wheel, if you try to turn the axle around a vertical axis (for example, if you try to turn backwards), the wheel resists. I came up with a cool explanation for why this happens. So, when you turn with the wheel backwards, the wheel starts spinning in the opposite direction. So the effect is as if the wheel stopped and then started spinning in the opposite direction. So it can't be easy to do.
