brazilian sugar mines
In Brazil, wild sugarcane grows in the peatlands. Over time, layers of rotting sugarcane from previous years create thick strata. Spring rains wash over them, forming deposits of pure sugar. Then, shifting dunes cover them, and the peatlands move further west.
In these places, sugar mines are formed. The work there is very hard because it’s not only dark and stuffy but also full of flies. And if there are problems with drainage - which happens often - you end up working ankle-deep in a sticky, sweet muck.

No to maja slodkie zycie! A nie wiedzialem, ze muchy lubia cukier. Na szczescie kawy nie pije wcale a herbaty nie slodze i nawet jestem w Brazylii teraz :)

En pantanos de Brasil crece una caña de azúcar silvestre. Año tras año se crean gruesas capas de caña pudriendo y fermentando. Lluvias de primavera las lavan y limpian y después de algunos años surgen los filónes del azúcar mineral. Despues las dunas los cubren. En estos lugares se construyen las minas de azúcar. El trabajo ahí es muy duro. En las minas está muy caluroso, oscuro, el aire esta cargado y hay muchos moscas ahí, todo es mojado, dulce y pegajoso. Piensa en la vida dura de los mineros brasileños cuando azucaras tu vaso de té.
